Facilities
Located on eleven hectares of land and only 4km from the Kempsey CBD, Kempsey Adventist School (KAS) boasts new, state-of-the-art facilities on its extensive rural campus. A large amount of school land is dedicated to student recreation. This space allows students to play and explore, learn and discover, create and be challenged, a place where they feel safe and secure.
The most recently completed building at KAS is the Innovation Lab which was opened in January 2018. It consists of several rooms available for various classes with a large practical area equiped with workbenches and machinery. The computer lab adjoins the area containing laser cutters, laser printers, laser etchers, etc, allowing students ready access to current technology. Areas have been set aside for robotics with the Innovation Lab now a hub for VEX robotics on the Mid-north Coast.
The purpose-built Pre-Kindy Room provides a vibrant and exciting learning environment that caters to the unique needs of little people. With speciality playground equipment, a large classroom and play areas, KAS Kids are able to explore and learn in a safe and secure setting.
Architecturally designed, large, air-conditioned classrooms create energetic learning environments for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, with all primary classrooms having been built in the last 9 years.
The secondary campus has a well-equipped art room, a modern kitchen and large, light-filled science labs. The Industrial Technology facility is well-resourced and the Trade Training Centre offers students unique opportunities in Horticulture.
The 2019 building project has been the construction of a new canteen and staff area, with a highly functional VET Hospitality kitchen and textiles learning spaces as well. It is anticipated that this building will open at the start of the 2020 school year. A high-tech music, performing and visual arts facility will provide students and staff with cutting-edge technology and effective work-spaces when it is opened in 2020. The Year 7 and 8 Homeroom block was opened in 2016 and means that students in Year 7 and 8 have their own relatively new, spacious, exciting learning spaces.
Our Learning Information Centre (LIC) is a spacious, bright, modern and exciting learning space, where classes can be held or individual students can find a corner and read a book or play a game. A class set of Mac desktop computers can assist in research and learning and the tutorial rooms are used by small groups and classes.
The school has several sets of laptops and iPads, and all classrooms are equipped with smart-boards or large screens which allow students every opportunity to engage in technology-rich learning. KAS will also instigate a BYODD (Bring Your Own Designated Device) program in 2020, where students in Yrs 7 and 10 will bring their own device to school to complete their work on. A wireless network provides staff and students with access to timely and valuable information no matter where they are on campus.
